Nothing happens, nobody comes, nobody goes, it's awful. This line from the play was adopted by Jean Anouilh to characterize the first production of Waiting for Godot at the Théâtre de Babylone in 1953. He went on to predict that the play would, in time, represent the most important première to be staged in Paris for forty years. Nobody acquainted with Beckett's masterly black comedy would now question this prescient recognition of a classic of twentieth-century literature.

Dans Fin de partie il y a déjà cette notion d'immobilité, cette notion d'enfouissement. Le personnage principal est dans un fauteuil, il est infirme et aveugle, et tous les mouvements qu'il peut faire c'est sur son fauteuil roulant, poussé par un domestique, peut-être un fils adoptif, qui est lui-même assez malade, mal en point, qui marche difficilement. Et ce vieillard a ses parents encore, qui sont dans des poubelles, son père et sa mère qu'on voit de temps en temps apparaître et qui ont un très charmant dialogue d'amour. Nous voyons deux êtres qui se déchirent, qui jouent une partie comme une partie d'échecs et ils marquent des points, l'un après l'autre, mais celui qui peut bouger a peut-être une plus grande chance de s'en tirer, seulement ils sont liés, organiquement, par une espèce de tendresse qui s'exprime avec beaucoup de haine, de sarcasme, et par tout un jeu. Par conséquent, il y a dans cette pièce - qui est à un niveau théâtral absolument direct, où il n'y a pas d'immense symbole à cher-cher, où le style est d'une absolue simplicité -, il y a cette espèce de jeu qu'ils se font l'un à l'autre, et qui se termine aussi d'une façon ambiguë parce que le suspense dérisoire de la pièce, s'il y a suspense, c'est ce fils Clov, partira-t-il ou non? Et on ne le sait pas jusqu'à la fin. Je dois dire aussi que c'est une pièce comique. Les exégètes de Beckett parlent d'un "message", d'une espèce de chose comme ça. Ils oublient de dire le principal, c'est que c'est une chose qui est une découverte du langage, de faire exploser un langage très quotidien. Il n'y a pas de littérature plaquée, absolument pas. L'innommable
De même que Dante chemine de cercle en cercle pour atteindre son Enfer ou son Paradis, de même est-ce, chacun dans un cercle bien distinct, que Samuel Beckett situe les trois principaux protagonistes de sa trilogie, Molloy, Malone meurt et L'Innommable, afin qu'ils atteignent, peut-être, le néant auquel ils aspirent. D'un roman à l'autre, ce cercle est de plus en plus réduit. Le cercle imparti à l'Innommable se réduit à un point, c'est le trou noir au centre d'une galaxie, là où l'espace-temps se déforme, où tout est happé et s'engouffre sans pour autant disparaître. L'être qui réside en ce point est nécessairement sans nom puisqu'il s'agit de " je ", ce " moi " à jamais non identifiable. Figé, le corps de l'Innommable est incapable du moindre mouvement. Cependant il a " à parler ". Ses précédents personnages, Molloy, Malone et les autres passent et repassent, tournant autour de lui. Ils semblent avoir ourdi un complot pour le contraindre à continuer d'être, le forcer donc à continuer de dire. Alors l'Innommable va créer d'autres mondes, donner voix à d'autres lui-même. Les personnages qu'il devra " essayer d'être " - avec lucidité, mais sans jamais se départir de son humour -, seront tour à tour Mahood, homme-tronc fiché dans une jarre, puis Worm, visage indistinct qui n'est qu'oreille " tressaillante " et terrible inquiétude d'un unique " ?il aux aguets ".En stockCOMMANDER9,00 €
