Gérard Garouste is one of the major figures of French painting. This monograph presents the artist's journey through the great mythological sources he has drawn from in order to build his oeuvre. Whether literary, biblical or personal, these myths are the framework of his painting and have fed, for over forty years, his guest for meaning, as well as his philosophical and poetic investigations.
