New concepts in housing

A vibrant and varied collection of some of the latest exhibition stands from the world's top names in design and architecture. These design programs show the endless creative solutions to be found in working with a limited amount of floor space and, often, limited resources. An inspiring sourcebook for architects, students and design professionals, it also includes brief explanatory texts contributed by the designers themselves.

This book encompasses a wide selection of trade show stands, realized by outstanding international architects and designers ; who have transformed this extraordinary facet of retail design into a fully-fledged art. Each one of the projects included in this volume has been carefully chosen according to a criterion of originality, creativity and innovation. Full-color glossy photographs, rigorous graphic documentation, and explanations by the authors themselves accompany those selected. All of which, added to the complete follow-up of how the design process developed, makes this work a necessary and exciting tool for architects, designers and students, as well as for all professionals wishing to extend their knowledge in the field of retail space design and the architecture of trade show stands.

Through recent examples by renowned international archtects as Norisada Maeda, MVRDV, Atelier Tekuto, Lorcan O'Herlihy Architectes and Suguira Office, among others, this monographic work analyses the difficulty of integrating new residential volumes into sites that are particularly narrow and difficult due to their situation and environment, and making them connect with the context through exemplary technical and formal solutions. In all of them, the façade concentrates the most interesting aspects of the composition and construction of the project; it is the face of the building, a privileged view onto the exterior, with connects with the neighbouring buildings in order to weave the urban fabric and close the profile of the street.
