Going Beyond Information - Influence and Perception is a first collection of writings in English from officers of the Ecole de Guerre - the French War College - in Paris, that explore aspects of security and defense on behalf of partners and institutions in the United Kingdom and the United States. In addressing big questions these writings leave us with other issues to ponder. Human beings in society have come to depend on home-grown propaganda and manipulated information, and the only antidote is making the effort to think for oneself ; that top brass trying to influence their political masters must engage actively and fairly with the fourth estate, the media ; that whether an individual succumbs to radicalization depends on a delicate balance of personal resilience and social circumstances- on their story, and that their salvation needs the human engagement of those around them ; that commanders in the age of ubiquitous interconnected decision-making need to restore the human dimension of command.
